Jean Durand and His Posterity

George Durand and Eleanor Dubeau Descendants and Ancestors
Once out of print but
now available as a book. This book presents the George Durand family as of 1997.
Ancestors and descendants are included. Individual chapters cover the
lives of all the George and Eleanor children. Each chapter written by a

Aunt Bea's Trunk on DVD
This is a DVD of
Beatrice Durand Derrick's genealogy trunk contents. Beatrice was a
descendant of Pierre and Louise Durand. Photos, newspaper clippings,
family letters, and genealogy pages were scanned and saved to a DVD. A
computer with a DVD player must be used to open these files.

Napoleon & Louise Durand, Life, Love & Faith Amongst Trials
and Tribulations
Authored by Mike Durand, this article tells about the tragedy that this young
couple experienced just prior to and also shortly after their marriage. It
relates how they overcame these experiences, and lived a life of happiness and
success, full of song and prayer despite the tragedies.
George Durand & Eleanor Dubeau
Roger and Edmund Durand write about their grandparents and recount their life
and times. Included are many great classical pictures taken at various stages of
the family growth and migration through Minnesota, North Dakota and Canada.

This newsletter is packed with some great classical photos which many
people have never seen before. A brief article is written by Mike Durand, about
his grandparents Pierre and Marie Louise Durand. In his article, Were Pierre
& Marie Durand really cousins?, the question is answered once and for
all.
Some of the structure and mission statements are also provided
by the various committees of the Durand Heritage Foundation which were presented
and adopted at the spring meeting. Also, a letter in enclosed of our
correspondence with the Les Clercs De Saint-Viateur Canadians, and the
copyright permission to the Durand Heritage Foundation, for the Jean Durand
et Sa Posterite, de Joseph et Viateur Durand book originally published in
the 1950's. The letter authorizes translation and publication of the book in
English.

My Father in France
John Durand, Vice President of the Durand Heritage Foundation, hits a grand slam with his article. It traces his father's footsteps from the time he leaves his northern Wisconsin home and family to join the Army with other men from the area, until the time he returns home from World War I in France.
Minnesota & Wisconsin French Connection
Roger Durand briefly discusses some of the French Canadian families from Canada who migrated to the Minnesota and Wisconsin region. Roger provides pictures along with an outstanding diagram to show some of the Durand family lineage.

Ione Durand Brooks writes about the wedding day of her parents and how her
mother later met an untimely death, leaving a family of five young children
behind.
The Durand Family History
Beatrice Durand Derrick, (1907-1980), wrote this article some years ago,
probably in the 1960's. It shows her early interest in family history, and
provides some interesting events as told to her by her father and mother.
It also provides the reader with insight of Beatrice's early motivation for
working on family history and genealogy.

Elizabeth Durand's Story
Taken from handwritten notes provided by Joan Durand Richert and Clyde Durand,
this is a great classical story and includes many photo's. It is true to life
and tells about homesteading in Minnesota and being born in a log cabin during
the 1890's.

Lilacs In The Snow
Virginia Durand James, relates a story of her parent's, Lewis and Jenny Durand,
(cover photo) being married during the great depression and their life struggles
and triumphs through these times as they began to raise their family.
Albert Durand, one of our first Canadian members, retraces his family roots and
reports on his trip to the U.S. and his visit with Leo and Myrtle Durand and
Roger and Mike Durand families.
1999 Award winners are listed to show appreciation to all the people that have
worked so hard to make the Foundation a success.

Leo Phillip Durand
Leo Phillip Durand (cover photo) is the feature story of this edition, written
by his son Roger. This story relates in detail about his youth, marriage and
joining the Army and the WWII campaign in France as well as the proud
grandparents of a beautiful family today.

Durand, and also attend the association meeting. Many great photos are included.
Three Trefoils Sable
John Durand tells about his efforts to understand the Durand Family crest only
to find out that many of his preconceived notions were wrong.

Benoni Durand and His Son Gerard
Mary Ann Durand Balding wrote this feature story. Assisted by her husband Ronald
and her sister Anita Oakey, they forwarded many many great classical photos and
a great story for this edition.
The Deerslayer John Durand writes again about his adolescence and his
dream to become a deerslayer while hunting with other family members. Confessing
later in life now, that the only thing he ever shot was to seriously maim some
limbs high on a tree after nearly blowing off his cousins head with his shotgun.
John also reports that he pawned his gun years ago and took up the pen instead.
